Recently had a baby?

Congratulations on the birth of your baby! We are delighted to help you look after yourself and your family. Your baby needs to be registered with a GP and this should ideally be at the same surgery that the mother is registered at. If you would like to register with us you will need to bring the baby's birth certificate to the surgery.

We hold a child health clinic (for well babies). You will be able to see a health visitor, Practice Nurse or GP. This is a good opportunity to get the baby weighed and vaccinated and to meet other new parents. You will be invited to the surgery for an 8-week check for the baby and immunisations.

If your baby is unwell then please don’t bring a sick child to the baby clinic. Ring the surgery and ask for an appointment - these are always available on the same day if needed. We usually recommend the following:

First few weeks:
BCG (TB) - check with your health visitor

8 weeks:
Health check 1st immunisation (DTP/HIB/Polio/Pneumo)

12 weeks:
2nd immunisation (DTP/HIB/Polio/Men C)

16 weeks:
3rd immunisation (DTP/HIB/Polio/Pneumo/Men C)

8 months:
Developmental check with health visitor

12 months:
HIB and Meningitis C immunisation

13 months:
MMR and Pneumo immunisations

2-2 ½ years:
Developmental check by health visitor

3-3 ½ years:
Pre-school booster (DTP/HIB/Polio, MMR)

Ask your own health visitor for advice about baby groups and other activities in the area.
